All in all I would like to add my weight to the positive reviews that this item has recieved. Its very easy to use, its amazing how many problems can be avoided if you follow the instructions to the letter sometimes! :D
I got this mainly to transfer the 100's of videos we have here and its very intuitive, highly recommended

Like others, I read all the reviews on the web about this & similar clone product. Reviews seemed very mixed from good to b__y aweful. I had been using a Dazzle unit every so often in the past, but temperamental had deteriorated to impossible to use. I am in the process of moving my old family vhs videos to dv.
I took the advice of the first reviewer and closed down all my unnecessary apps and tray items. I have the advantage of several dedicated SATA drives in my system and a reasonably fast Dual AMD processor and 3gb RAM.
I already had Ulead V10 loaded as well as Pinnacle, but the supplied Ulead is good for capture and general use. Once the drivers were installed it found the unit and capture was much more straightforward than expected. The quality turned out much better than expected, no dropped frames or audio. I didn't realise 3 hrs VHS would consume 150Gb of drive, it seems to produce more data than the old Dazzle and I have a lot of editing to do!
To sum up, it does what it says on the box and I had no problems. I would think that preparing your system and a good hard drive are essential, the processing involved is quite intense.
I bought from Amazon because even though it was a little dearer than elsewhere at least if it hadn't worked they will take it back...

I purchased this product on the strength of the many positive reviews albeit a few people have had serious problems and given negative reviews.
Well all I can say is that this is an excellent piece of kit and does the job 100%. Everything worked first time for me with no fiddling about. Just follow the instructions for the installation of software and hardware.
I have used the EasyCAP to transfer video from my VHS player to the PC.
I suspect that many people try using the Scart adapters that they have lying around that come with Video Cameras and Camcorders, many of which are wired for INPUT only and these will not work. You need a Scart adapter where the video is wired for OUTPUT, or, is switchable for INPUT/OUTPUT. I would also recommend therefore buying the switchable Scart adapter also available on Amazon. It's only cheap and works well with this device.

If you are not sure about your adapter then check the pin wiring.
Pin 19 is VOUT or 'Composite Video Out' and this is what you need for the EasyCAP.
Pin 20 is VIN or 'Composite Video In' and this will not work with the EasyCAP.
Pin 1 is AOR or 'Audio Out Right'
Pin 3 is AOL or 'Audio Out Left' (this also acts as the mono lead)
You can also use the SVideo lead but I have not tried this yet.
To check the pinout diagrams for Scart just search on Google.
I found the quality of recording very good and have now transferred a number of tapes to the PC.
I would highly recommend this product.
It's great value. Easy to use. Results are impressive!

This product does what it says but remember don't expect too much for what is after all just a few quid! Easy set up (instructions provided but not required,)pluggged in the leads and was capturing video from a hi8 camcorder within 5 mins. Quality is acceptable for the price but obviously does not compare with modern digital videos! Still it will allow me to save all those family memories to dvd which otherwise would probably have been ignored and lost forever. Gotta go for now - loads of capturing to do.....

There are videos on YouTube that show you how do set it up with windows 7. It worked for me.
Just search for 'Easy cap windows 7' and there are several videos that will help you.
So there is no reason for you not to buy this, jusy because you have windows 7.
