5 out of 5 stars big isn't always best   September 20, 2008

The Freecom Mobile Drive XXS 320GB is a wonderful piece of hardware. Theres no need for software, just plug into a USB 2.0 port and transfer your data. Copying 50mb of music files took around 15 seconds (on a PC running Windows Vista).

The tiny (and I mean tiny) hard-drive is encased in a black rubber case. The drive is powered by USB, so no power-leads required, and the drive is silent, with no fan.

Did I say it was tiny! This drive is perfect for use with your laptop, as conventional portable hard-drives are too big to store in your laptop bag. So backing up important laptop data has never been easier (what do you mean, you've not backed up your laptop data!).

The only minor grip (and it is minor) is that the USB lead is also tiny. But most people will have a spare USB lead that they can use.

5 out of 5 stars Compact, Light and Superb Value   March 8, 2009

This is a snazzy little piece of kit. Small and light, it fits into my laptop side pocket with ease. The transfer speeds are commendable, it is silent and as it is powered by the USB 2.0 (yes the cable is small), what more could you ask for. The black rubber encasement makes it fairly robust, and 320gb for the price is brilliant in my opinion. On the subject of the cable, I personally find it ideal to use with the laptop, but I can see why PC users would want a longer cable; but it's only a cable! Easy to use (I plugged it in and copied a couple of files onto my 'C' drive and I was away); for me that has to be good. Can now back up and have plentiful films and music 'on tap'. Worth the money

5 out of 5 stars Excellent, shame about the cable   March 3, 2009

Its bascially a 2.5" hard drive with a rubber casing and good sized storage. Only down side is the size of the cable,, but hey! you can always purchase that a for small cost, other than that an excellent buy. I experienced no problems when transferring data and started to use it as soon as it arrived.

The XXS is great for compactness.. It takes up no space at all works great and you can put it in your pocket.. Perfect for storing all my photos, music and movies...Only down side was that the cable was too small, but i bought an extension, problem solved..

5 out of 5 stars XXS - Xtra Xtra Small ?   August 20, 2008

This drive has a great deal going for it, not only does it live up to its boasts of being "the world's smallest external 2.5" hard drive" it also looks good, its very functional, easy to use and the rubber casing gives a cushioned and protective feel - ideal if your on the move. Because its rubber encased there is no need to worry about scratches or getting the enclosure cracked like with other drive designs on the market.

Out of the packaging it couldn't be simpler, plug and play, no need for a power adapter and when you're done it really is small and light enough to put in your pocket.

There is a quirky little tag on the side of this drive. You can see it in some of the product images, on this tag is the designers name "Sylvain Willenz", not having heard the name I did a little online research and found he is a young and somewhat famous in his field Belgian designer. Nice to know there is some outside design influence that goes into computer products!

I can't fault this product, hence 5 stars.
