Save it with a Zip - 20 Jul 2003

I have used various generations of zip drives to back up my data for several years now. The new 250 meg zip drive is a step forward and very easy to use. I have purchased 10 of the 250 meg zip drives to issue to managers who need to back-up their laptop data without support. They are easy to install (plug & play) reliable and very easy to use. Just plug it into your USB port and it appears as a new drive letter on your PC.
The portability of the new 250 is much improved on the original zip drive as it is USB powered. If you work at home and in the office, you can save complete projects to a zip disk and use it as an electronic briefcase that fits in your jacket pocket.
It does read 100 & 250 meg zip disks just as the manufacture claims with no problems. The disks are relatively cheap (from Amazon)compared with plug-in USB storage. Files copied to zip disks are saved with their original attributes - not in a read-only format which can be an issue when you save with a CD writer.
If you are not backing up your data, it is only a matter of time before you lose it as hard disks can fail without warning or a virus can corrupt your files.
This product is good value for money and provides a reliable solution to the data storage problem.
250Mb USB Zip Drive - 07 Jun 2003

It's a nice drive, it's very small & lightweight (and therefore easy to carry about if you want/need to), and the supplied vertical stand is a good idea if you have limited desk space. The only real criticism of the unit, is that is DOES NOT come with any zip disks. Which feels a little mean. So unless you already have some, make sure you order some to go with it.

I have this hardware and i had no problems Installing or using it, it is very small and quiet (for a zip drive). And looks great. Handy for quickly transferring data between PC'S & Makes no fuss when unpluged and reconnected.
Zip 250 is excellent - 30 Mar 2003

I borrowed a friend's Zip 250 USB powered drive the other week, and have now just ordered one for myself. The plug and play feature is excellent: you don't need to restart the computer to use it, which is great for university; especially for large assignments, presentations and for downloading large files from the internet to take back to a home computer. the zip 250 definitely fills the gap between a floppy disk and the need for a CD-rewriter. Even if you have files that are larger than a 250 mb, they can be spanned across disks with the use of a file compression utility such as Winzip. The actual size and no-need for a separate power supply are further benefits in its favour. this makes the drive extrememly portable and easy to transport between computers. This drive is going to make my life much easier... i will no longer have to carry 20 floppy disks to university with me! I would recommend a zip 250 drive to anyone needing to transport files from one computer to another.
iomega zip drive 250Mb - 26 Mar 2003

A great looking product that does all you ask of it as well as being not as noisy as the 100Mb version, which is a bonus. It's much smaller than the earlier zip drives and comes with a stand so it can be placed on it's side - it barely takes up any space at all. It is very simple to install, only taking about 5 minutes - allows you to just plug in and go; being external, the drive can also be moved easily between computers so work can quickly be transferred between machines. All in all a great product - I've used it loads and had no problems!
