Good mouse for a laptop - 17 May 2004

I have just acquired this little device today and straight away I have put it to the test of intensive and heavy workload. As a general comment: so far so good.
The mouse part has a standard design, with two buttons, a scroll-wheel, a good 800dpi optical sensor and does not require any driver to use it. The black and silver colours make it look more executive. It comes with a retractable cable to avoid having it everywhere and a PS2/USB adaptator is also supplied to use on both type of connections.
My first impression is that it is very mini (8x4.5cm) and I needed some time before to get use to it. The retractable cable (which was the reason why I bought it as well as the price) works well even if it looks fragile at first, especially the 2mm wide cable... but everything is strong (however, I would not give it to children). I would have loved more instructions to know how to use it in the quick installation though. The cursor is very accurate thanks to the good sensor and the mouse slides nicely on any desk surface. The only reserve I have is concerning the buttons, the push-click noise is relatively noisy and could be annoying for some people.
To summarise, a good product but probably not as good as the Microsoft or Logitec ones. The plus point, it is half-price.
