Why buy a USB drive if you've got CF - 05 Nov 2003

Why bother spending a fortune on USB Pen drives when you can make your own with one of these and a CF card - and it's expandable.
I originally bought it to transfer pics off my camera without wasting batteries but as the amount of flash I needed grew the option of using it as a portable drive became realistic. It now gets taken with me everytime there's a chance I might need to copy files to or from a PC.
Running it with Windows 2000 or 98SE I've not seen any problems on any machine I've used it with (and that's quite a few). I've got CF from 3 different manufacturers and of different size (Cannon 16MB, Kodak 128MB and Transcend 512MB) and all work perfectly everytime.
There's a couple of downsides. It is quite large (the main disadvantage compared to Pen Drives). In winter you can put it in your jacket but in summer those pockets disappear. I guess that's why we've got hands. The other is the colour scheme but if you're that picky then you seriously need help - no seriously you do.
Installation Problems - 10 Oct 2003

The card reader software will not install properly
on my PC. The machine is quite new, high spec, and
running Windows XP with all patches installed. The
reader installation appears to work at first, but the
second stage of installation does not appear on reboot,
and the drive is accessible only once. In other words
I have to re-install every time I want to read a card.
The Tech support line is hopeless. You wait in a queue
for about 20mins before a recording tells you they are
too busy to handle your call.

Belkin - robust reliable reader - 30 Jul 2003

Extremely happy with this Compact Flash reader. As expected, no installation problems. It's well-designed and feels more solid than previous readers I've used; the 'top slot' guides the cards in easily and reliably (I prefer it to the front slot that many readers have). The only gripe is that the reader doesn't stand up very well, being overbalanced by the power cable.
Despite this, if you just use CF cards, I'd wholeheartedly recommend this reader.

I would just like to day that this product is really, really good and easy to use and of course it's Belkin so you get the liftime warrenty as well. It was so simple to install and get working and it's plug and play with windows 98 and above. I don't know how I eve lived without it. The CF card fits perfectly so no chance of it geeting damaged. Don't delay buy it today.
