I have not bought this product but was reading the top 100 reviewers comments and was just wanting to make a suggestion to the problem of sliding , if you go to the pound shop in your local area you will get a piece of cloth which is in a roll format and stops all things from moving once this is put under it ask in the shop for it they will know what you mean, it is blue and looks like a little carpet but when used you will see what i mean i wish i could add a pic but cant to let you see what i mean but i know this will work for all you out there

i am going to buy this product as i need it for my tomtom mobile which is in my mobile phone some people laugh when i tell them this but they dont believe me but all the fool them as i have it and what a piece of kit check out tomtom.com and look at all the compatible mobile phones and you will know what i mean , i need it to save my memory to the hard drive incase off any mishaps and i lost all the maps thanks

This card reader is superb.

It is discreetly sized and because it's powered from the USB socket, there's no seperate power supply to cart around. It's fairly light, so would need to be secured in a permanent position with something like a sticky fixer (not included). However it's well built from good quality materials and has rubber feet to help stop it sliding about. I get excellent transfer rates with my 40x CF card: I transferred about 400Mb of images in around 8 minutes using USB 2.0

On the down side, there is no integrated cable storage, so you have to carry that seperately. Also, there are no covers for the slots so dust/dirt/sand/small animals etc could get lodged inside during transportation.

One other thing to be careful of is that you don't remove memory cards while the in-use light is lit or flashing as this can corrupt the cards. This applies to all card readers and is not a fault of this product.

This is definetly a worthwhile device, think about it - if you buy another camera in a couple of years time, you probably won't need to buy a new reader.

I bought this card reader/writer before the market was swamped with silly cheap equivalents. Having used both the Belkin and no-name competitors (some of which look very similar) I have concluded that it was worth spending the extra money. The Belkin seems to have better quality connectors, it is very well made, it is fast and reliable. It comes with a driver which gives each drive letter an icon which identifies the card type. As with all Belkin products, it arrives well packed in a good quality box complete with an instruction booklet (if you need instructions for a USB card reader!).

I use this device to download pictures from memory cards to my PC at home, this saves me having to flatten my cameras batteries just so I can manipulate them on my PC later.

It's very fast (much faster than my using my camera) and feels well made - but it is a bit pricey...

Plug and Play @ Speed - 27 May 2004

Using it to download my digital SLR pictures which in RAW format can be very large and time consuming to download. I use this device with Windows XP Pro and no driver install was needed, I just associated it with my favourite download software and away I go at USB 2.0 speed.. what more do you need?
Excellent price too. I own a few Belkin products and rate then very high, especially the value vs. price.
