Setting up the bluetooth dongle. - 23 Oct 2006

Bought this from Amazon last week, running on XP home, Dell inspiron 1300 laptop.
At first the Bluetooth dongle loaded windows drivers, the CD with the dongle will load its own drivers when the instructions enclosed are followed. I loaded drivers from the belkin site, you need the dongle serial number, which give this device impressive capabilities, I am running GPRS dial-up internet through a Nokia 6310i, can hotsync a palm t2, and run nokia data suite for the cell phone, all perfectly, and it will do considerably more.

Works perfectly with my desktop computers for transferring files to/from mobile and PDA... No probs at all!! I think it came with a CD and manual which I have not (and probably never will) use. Plug n play at it's easiest with this blutooth device!!! AND GREAT RANGE TOO!! (running windows xp SP2 home/proff on all sytems). ***Best prices available***
Pot luck as to whether it will work... - 08 Jun 2006

I orginally bought this product to work on my E-Machines. It worked perfectly for a while (my system is fully patched) but then starting causing my machine to generate stop errors, otherwise known as the Windows "Blue Screen of Death."
I now have a Dell 5150 and the device fails to work at all.
absolutely no problem - 25 Feb 2006

don't be put off by the bad reviews, I have windows XP with all patches up to date as of feb/06 and had no problems installing or using this device.
the only thing that is annoying (although not the fault of this device) is the fact there's not a mass file-transfer via bluetooth function for the sony ericsson phone I own, so uploading pictures from my phone to PC is a slow process.
It Works Fine For Me! - 20 Sep 2005

Initially wary due to (i) the negative reviews, and (ii) the XP SP2 issues that seem to dog all Bluetooth USB Adapters, I was very surprised that it worked straight out of the box. Upon plugging it into the rear of my laptop, XP SP2 immediately detected it, initialized its own (Widcom) driver, and the blue LED came on. I then told the software to "discover" my Moto V635 and proceeded to copy a bunch of files from handset to laptop. It worked.
I would recommend installing the Belkin software though because itis easier to transfer multiple files this way. With XP's built in software, you have to click "Receive file" on the PC, for every file you want to copy from the phone, even if you "mark" multiple files on the handset before sending. That quickly becomes a pain, and the Belkin CD is the way to resolve that.
Obex file transfer doesn't work with Motos, but that isn't unique to Belkin. Many mobile phone manufacturers just choose to protect certain files (like Java games) by disabling full Obex support...but you can still use Obex Object Push to transfer Java games (and other files) *onto* the handset.
I'm also a rich git with a very big house and garden. I tried transferring files from all over both and it worked without interruption. I wasn't expecting that after reading other comments here.
Very pleased so far.
