None of my USB items (TV card, memory stick, ADSL modem) are working with this card unless I use the card's mains adaptor : not very practical when using a laptop!

Fine once problems are ironed out - 05 Apr 2006

I got this card to use with my ipod, but like some other reviewers on here, I found that by using it with XP it crashed my laptop every time I tried to transfer anything between my ipod or flash drive and my computer. After a few weeks of messing about we have got it working by downloading new drivers from Belkin and Microsoft. Now all is well with both ipod and flash drive.

Overall, it does the job well once the driver problem is sorted out, but it shouldn't have had that problem in the first place.

USB Cardbus works, but does crash..... - 05 Feb 2006

In a similar way to other reviewers, i have an Dell Inspiron with XP Home and loaded bought this PCMCIA card to enable faster transfers on an external HDD and iPod. Loading was fine, once you found the host controller.
Problems came on switching off - it crashed the computer with a physical memory dump etc etc. BUT the computer restarted fine and the error message reporting pop up took me to Windows XP home support where it was dealt with. I think that when removing the card, ensure that you properly shut it down before removing and ensure your service pack is up to date.
Apart from that, it works just fine and is much faster than the USB 1 port, so take your chances.
I'm happy!!!! But at least i was warned and expected it!

This thing made my comp blue screen - 20 Jan 2006

I have a dell inspiron with xp sp2. Followed the installation instructions accurately but after installing the drivers and rebooting, i got t3h blu screen of death!

after downloading the latest drivers from the website, i am still having problems - the card is too bulky to sit along side my wireless network card and the speed is average at best.

verdict - if you do buy it, go straight to the belkin website for drivers and dont put the cd in your drive.

Same problem with crashing - 19 Jan 2006

I have the same problem with this card causing my laptop to crash. I have a high spec system and needed a usb 2 card to speed up transfers to my 20gb mp3 player. now with smaller devices, this card works fine, but lets face it, i can use my usb 1.1 ports for a cordless mouse and keyboard. As soon as I connect my player and try more sustancial transfers, it freezes up my laptop, however the system is fine and resumes when i remove it. As I purchased this soley for large file transfers to my mp3 player and perhaps the option of an external hdd at a later date, this causes some what of a problem!
